October is Black History Month (BHM) in the UK; when we seek to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of Black people to British society, and globally. The theme for BHM 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” which recognises the strength and resilience of Black communities worldwide.
Our clients have been out in Bedford Town and visited a local Caribbean food shop to purchase a couple of different Caribbean foods. They bought and tasted different foods, which included Plantain, Fish Tea Soup, Cheese biscuits and Bulla Cake.
The client’s favourite out of these was, of course, the Bulla Cake. Bulla cake, usually referred to as “bulla”, is a rich Jamaican cake made with molasses, brown sugar and spiced with ginger and nutmeg. Delicious!
